Sumiit's life started in a small obscure village called Parichha, in a remote part of India. Blessed with a good family but with all the challenges that living in such small places brings together - very limited exposure to opportunities for academic or extra-curricular growth. This resulted in him developing few skills other than purely academic. Living in such geographies and in a society where mixing with the opposite gender in early and teenage years was seen as a taboo, Sumiit also developed deep inferiority complex, sense of shyness and very low self-confidence.
At the age of 19, when he got his first opportunity to study engineering in a big city in a co-educational environment, he found himself overwhelmed and this made him go deep into his 'shell'. As an introvert, expressing himself was already an uphill task, and the new environment had quickly earned him the tag of 'small town guy' from colleagues. There were few friends and lots of challenges. Talking to or studying with girls as batchmates or project-work mates called for tremendous courage and repeated exposure to the most terryfying emotional experiences. He found his heart beating faster, his body shaking (hopefully not noticable enough to others) and his voice choking in such situations. Inspite of academic achievements, he frequently found himself alone and usually left out of groups made for studying, partying or sports and entertainment, and was labelled sometimes with humiliating names.
The internal challenges and travails resulted in him never being able to approach a girl he felt deeply for, even in 5 year of possibilities and then once again with another girl at a later stage, where he was told that he was seen only as a helpful friend...nothing more!
Inspite of all the challenges and the heart-breaks, Sumiit persisted in life, continuously working towards betterment and excellence. Every failure and embarassment related to social (mixed gender) situations made him go into his shell, but he would come out again and persevere. He learnt about subjects like body language, working in social groups and teams, leadership, motivation and topics like astrology, numerology, palmistry that could interest and entertain others for the sake of being accepted into the social groups.
He felt his life was changing but the consistency of results was lacking. Sometimes this approach of appeasing and attracting others worked well, while at other times it did not. Occasionally he would find himself enjoying cinema visits and birthday parties with collagues but often people forgot to invite him to be part of their celebrations and chill out phases. And he was often lonely !
Determined to not let the life drag on this way, he changed focus in life and did what he could do best - study more and harder to achieve good grades. Good results showed up and he became more ambitious, energetic and went ahead to pursue higher degree of Master of Business Adminsitration (MBA) from globally top ranked University in 2005.
Taking on greater career challenges and higher stress he started progressing in career, landed into top corporate jobs with high salaries, won awards and travelled across countries, but that feeling of lonliness stayed with him. That craving to have friends with whom he could have deeper connection continued. He suffered another heart-break because someone he again deeply liked, only considered him a friend , unwilling to take the friendly relationship to the next level.
Following this, at the age of 32 when he was at peak of his career, he went into depression. Suddenly he lost interest in everything. He gave up his career and leadership position in a large organisation, and went into a shell. Days...weeks... and then months passed before he decided to talk to anyone. But coming from a society where depressions is not an acceptable illness, he soon had to push himself into another job, at a much junior level with far less responsibilities and income.
By 2012, Sumiit had no goals, no aspirations, no desire to pursue anything and nothing seemed to excite him. He had become confrontational, short tempered and highly impatient. Working in a position too junior to his previous one, and in a role that required fairly simple work, he started feeling de-valued, insignificant and went into ad-hoc arguments with almost anyone in professional or personal space.
Out of societal compulsions and family traditions he was now married and had a child. The depression and the societal pressures to get into the job, get married and build a family, however, proved to be a blessing in disguise. He got significant support from his wife, both financially and emotionally and lots of free time for introspection, looking through the life with multiple perpectives.
He searched franatically for answers - what is happening to him, what is he looking for, what will bring back the desire to do something in life, especially now that he had a family to support. He went to online discussion forums, free webinars, seminars, motivational events and seeked guidance and help from anyone and everyone who could possibly understand what he was passing through. He learnt about meditations to go deeper within his own self to get the answers, but the thoughts, emotions and the bodily sensatations would just not allow hikm to calm down and focus.
This went on for several years, before he heard about Life Coaching. And suddenly he had a direction. He wanted to get his life set right again, to feel energised and excited about something again. This initiated the new journey of re-designing life. He went on to learn about Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Conscious Hypnosis. Through some of these sessions he suddenly had a breakthrough! As if life suddenly transformed by magic. The long lost energy and excitement in life returned. Confidence grew and a renewed sense of well-being and worthiness started building up. Then appeared a clear life purpose in front of him - to help others who are similarly struggling in their life.
He started his next journey of education, practise and progress to become a certified Life Coach with high qualifications in NLP, Conscious Hypnosis, Timeline and mBraining. And he gradually overcame the frequent bouts of anger, self-esteem issues, insecurities and made new friends. He turned calmer and suddenly found himself being invited to group discussions, events and celebrations. Life had transformed for him.
Equipped with new knowledge and skills, he re-desigened his life, set up new professional and personal goals and started working towards them. Results started showing up and he got opportunities to to particpate in global panel discussions, write for journals and magazines and co-host radio programs as an expert. People started approaching him and utilising the immensely powerful Life Coaching frameworks, techniques and processes, he started helping them out with their struggles in professional and personal life.
With success of his clients - improved health, professional success, resolved emotional baggages, reduced anger, improved self-confidence, Sumiit felt more and more peace and calmness entering his own life, and is now continuing on his journey of helping others transform their lives.
